A Lute guitar by Edward Light 1790-1830. Seven strings, 7th requiring a tuning key. Levers form the back of the neck effect 1st fret on strings 7 & 5, and 2nd fret on strings 6 & 4. Capo openings on frets 2,3,4 &. 5. Condition is very good with no cracks showing.
The harplike pillar supports diatonically tuned bass strings to extend the range of the fretted strings. The pitch of the bass strings could be raised a semitone by finger-operated ring stops that work very much like pedals on a harp. Some gesso chipped off.
An early 12 key Clarinet in C, Boxwood and Ivory, in beautiful condition. Marked in two places "Euler, Frankfort, a/M". Faults are; one replaced key, and cracks in Ivory on barrel. Length is 20 3/8 inches. Original MP. In a modern case.
Clarinet in Black wood and ivory by (I think) Jean Francois a Paris 1827-40. This instrument is in poor condition but may be worth saving if you like J.F.Martin's work. Bell has large wood chip. Lowest joint is good, middle joint has been well pinned, upper joint, which has 2 block mounted and three pin mounted keys (one needs spring), and has a long surface crack. Barrel is cracked. Comes with original MP. Length is 23 3/8 inches
A well built unsigned 5 key Clarinet, Boxwood and Ivory. All keys work well and all joints are tight. Faults are; chip off of lower block and one ivory ring replaced with string. Ready to play except for pads. length is 20 5/8 inches. Original Mp (and reed)
An unnamed 5 key clarinet of Boxwood and Ivory. Small chip on one block, one ring has been repaired and one key needs spring. Length is 23 1/2 inches. Other keys have strong spring action. Original MP included.
A six key, all block mounted, Boxwood and Ivory Clarinet marked in three place "BILTON, LONDON (Unicorn)" Clarinet in good condition except for the following; two Ivory rings absent, one key needs adjustment, short crack on bell tenon, which will be closed when ring is added. Comes with original MP. Other keys are working well. Length is 23 3/8 inches
A boxwood and Ivory 13 key (simple system) Clarinet marked "(bee) Martin, *Freres*, A.Paris, (initial logo)" Brass keys and Thumb rest. Light crack in barrel and one ring. All keys and springs respond well. Length is 20 3/8 inches.
A 6 key boxwood with Ivory Eb Clarinet by Klemm & Bros. Phila. This instruments is in perfect playing condition in spite of the amazing restorations which include replacing two rings and restoring the center tenon with ebony. The only current damage is a small chip of off the C# block. Original MP. Length is 16 1/2 inches.
A boxwood and Horn Clarinet with 6 block mounted keys and 2 added pin mounts keys. All keys and springs are working. Light crack in bell. Repaired crack in barrel. Original MP and cap. Makers mark reads " (bee) Martin Fres a Paris (in oval)( two initial logo) B" Length is 22 1/4 inches.
